In Chinese culture, we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (zhong qiu jie, 中秋节) every fall. My family mostly celebrates by eating mooncakes (yue bing, 月饼). This year, 中秋节 falls (ha) on September 15th.
Mooncakes are round pastries that can come in many varieties. I’ve purchased a box of mooncakes from Costco to bring to Morocco as a host family gift. I’m excited to share these with my host family on September 15th! Being Chinese American is a huge part of my identity and it’s cool that I can share that with others.
Also, unrelated but my brother’s been brushing Schuyler every day and collecting his fur that he sheds… he’s telling me that he wants to get enough so he can make a pillow. And send it to me in Morocco. #brothergoalz
